- Construction of Cloud Capable, Open WAN Environment!-

Macnica Networks Corp., which provides network devices and security solutions (headquarters: 1-5-5 Shin-Yokohama, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama, Japan; President: Masahiro Miyabukuro; hereinafter "Macnica Networks") and Viptela, Inc., which provides Software Defined (SD)-Wide Area Network (WAN) technology (headquarters: San Jose, California; CEO: Amir Khan; hereinafter Viptela), announce that they have agreed to conclude a Distributorship Agreement.

Products scheduled for handling under the Agreement vEdge1000/vEdge2000 (hardware)
vSmart/vManage (SDN controller/management interface)
Date to Commence Distribution Scheduled date in July, 2015

Recently, the use of SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technology has made it possible to explicitly separate the control plane and the data plane, with hardware performing data transmission only and data control under centralized management and automation from an SDN controller. Viptela's SD-WAN solutions reduce network operating costs and provide business agility by allowing enterprises to combine multiple transport networks into a single, cloud adaptable, WAN environment.

The Viptela SEN (Secure Extensible Network) platform includes an SDN controller, called vSmart, a router called vEdge and a management platform called vManage. SEN provides centralized traffic, policy control, robust network security and application visualization. The overlay transport function makes it possible to securely construct a highly flexible WAN environment, independent of the connectivity being used. Viptela enables enterprises to implement transport-agnostic VPNs that can be used to deploy secure B2B networks over broadband connections that support voice, data and video services (service chaining).

Macnica Networks will use Viptela's SEN to deploy value-added WAN environments that provide:

  • Centralized traffic and policy control
  • Flexible network segmentation
  • Application visualization
  • A transport overlay
  • Automatic full mesh IPSec tunnels
  • vEdge zero touch bring up
  • L4-L7 service chaining
