Use of the cloud in Japan has accelerated in recent years to enhance work efficiency such as improving work styles and to reduce costs. However, traditional business security may be inadequate for the cloud, and such security concerns are steering companies away from the cloud. Faced with the problem of Shadow IT, where employees use unauthorized cloud services at work, it is increasingly necessary for companies to examine the security of such cloud services, understand the risks of using the cloud, and implement corresponding security, compliance and governance measures.

The "Skyhigh Cloud Security Platform" provided by Skyhigh Networks provides visibility into all cloud activity within a company, assesses the risk of the cloud itself as well as the activity of users, and allows companies to identify the risk of its cloud usage based on actual usage data across approximately 10,000 cloud services. This platform not only highlights the risks of cloud services being accessed, but also provides deeper visibility into Shadow IT by confirming who is using which cloud services at what time and in what way, and monitoring uploads or downloads and other suspicious activity.
This allows companies which were hesitant about incorporating the cloud due to risk concerns to use cloud services while enforcing their security, compliance and governance policies.

Macnica Networks provides solutions for companies to securely use cloud services. With a focus on the Skyhigh Networks solutions, Macnica Networks actively supports companies' cloud activities with a combination of "Ping Identity" which provides identification solutions in cloud usage, "MobileIron" which enhances security and management for using the cloud on mobile devices, "Box" which enables secure content collaboration, and "Remotium" which offers security measures for smart devices.

Features of the Skyhigh Cloud Security Platform

1. Visibility of Cloud Activity
Allows companies to identify who is using which cloud services at what time and in what way, thereby serving as an effective security solution for Shadow IT.
Companies not only gain visibility of cloud access, but can also identify the risks of the cloud services being accessed as well as the risks of the activity itself.

2. Registry of Cloud Services
Skyhigh Networks has identified risk assessment of approximately 10,000 cloud services by analyzing over 50 attributes for each cloud service. This allows companies to understand the state of cloud usage as well as the risks of the cloud services being accessed.

3. Identification of Suspicious Cloud Access
In addition to the risks of cloud services, the state of user access is also monitored.
This enables companies to identify anomalous uploads or downloads and other suspicious activity indicative of security breach or insider threat.

4. Enhanced Security of Cloud Services
Provides capabilities such as encryption and tokenization, data loss prevention, and contextual access control to enhance the security, compliance and governance of SaaS services covered by the Skyhigh Cloud Security Platform.
