Macnica Networks launches mxHero's "Mail2Cloud" as an external file sharing solution to replace PPAP

- By eliminating the Zip file and automatically saving the attached file in Box, a new, more secure, and highly convenient PPAP measure process is now realized -

Macnica Networks Corporation (hereinafter, Macnica Networks, head office: 1-5-5 Shin-Yokohama, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama, President: Jun Ikeda), provides security, networks, AI, and DX solutions. Today, we are pleased to announce that we have started selling "Mail2Cloud", a service of mxHero, which provides mail management services in the cloud.

In November 2020, the Minister for Digital Reform announced a policy to stop the use of password-protected Zip files at central ministries and agencies. As a result, many methods have recently become a hot topic regarding "PPAP elimination." PPAP refers to the process of sending an encrypted file (with password) attachment in an email and then sending the password to unzip the file in a second email.

The problems with PPAP are that virus checking does not work for Zip files with passwords and that the password transmission route is the same as the Zip file transmission route, so there is a possibility of eavesdropping. Other concerns include the recipient having to unzip the Zip file each time received, which reduces productivity. In addition, if an attachment is accidentally sent, the sender cannot cancel it; this causes additional security issues.

Under such circumstances, Macnica Networks will provide a secure external file sharing solution by integrating mxHero's Mail2cloud and "BOX," a cloud storage partner with Macnica since 2013.

mxHero's "Mail2Cloud" is a full cloud service that can execute mail management securely and efficiently in cooperation with various cloud storages. By integrating Mail2Cloud and Box, the mail sender can attach the file and send it. The file will automatically upload to Box, and the mail recipient will receive a Box shared link as it appears in the body of the email. In addition, you can check the file just by clicking the link, which improves the convenience of the recipient.

The email sender can change the file and check the access record even after sending it. If the wrong file was sent, the shared link can be deleted from Box. Various rule settings such as specifying the folder to be stored for each recipient and changing the security setting of the shared link are possible according to the company’s operation.

Furthermore, by moving the attached file to Box, the storage size of the mailbox can be reduced. This will help in reducing costs.

The integration of Mail2Cloud and Box reduces the security risk associated with attachments, improves convenience for both senders and recipients of emails, and managing mailboxes for many companies promoting digital transformation (DX). As a result, you can solve business issues related to traditional email content, such as reducing the cost of storage.

Regarding the partnership between mxHero and Macnica Networks in Japan, Mr. Katsunori Furuichi, President and CEO of Box Japan, said, "Macnica Networks, an important domestic primary partner for Box Japan, is now a partner of mxHero. We are confident this will also be an opportunity for Box to provide a lot of added value to our customers. We will deepen close cooperation with Macnica Networks and mxHero and eliminate PPAP by the three companies. We will actively cooperate in promoting the solution. "
