As crimes committed by external parties, such as targeted cyber-attacks and internal fraud continue to escalate, companies are beginning to take responsibility to properly determine and analyze security risks and promptly implement incident responses to address them. As such, moves to establish Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) have been gaining momentum. Governments are also strongly encouraging companies to set in motion structures to address emergency situations with the goal of rapid response to prevent the spread of external and internal crime. Instituting security barriers is an administrative issue that can no longer be entrusted externally.
Given such circumstances, n increasing number of companies is creating structures to perform correlational analyses on the logs of multiple security products in order to mount appropriate incident responses. Companies are issuing new protocols because it is difficult to visualize the impact each incident has through the log of just those individual security products that have already been adopted, leading to the possibility that some threats will be overlooked. Building such a structure requires knowledge of security solutions and analytics. To create a structure that can support proper incident responses one needs to determine the work patterns of each user, detect abnormalities, analyze and visualize the threats.

Exabeam uses UEBA technology(※) that integrates with Exabeam's, security intelligence and management solution to automatically learn each users' usage patterns from multiple logs to create a baseline of the user's activities. Deviations between each user's activities and their activity baseline are scored and abnormal activities and threats are automatically visualized, which makes it easy to detect high-risk threats from among an enormous volume of logs. Furthermore, by associating logs that have been outputted from existing systems, it can improve, alert management and assign a priority to alerts requiring a response, thereby achieving efficient security applications. In this manner, Exabeam automatically performs the analysis and determinations needed for incident responses. This makes it possible to carry out efficient incident responses internally without having to outsource this.

By offering Exabeam's cutting edge technology, Macnica Networks is contributing to the detection of external cyber-security threats and internal fraud, resulting in an efficient and effective operation. We will work to ensure that Macnica and Exabeam provide the right security solution to customers in controlling their IT systems.

* What is UEBA technology?
UEBA is an abbreviation for User Entity Behavior Analytics. This technology automatically learns user behavior and detects abnormal or irregular behavior. Using Exabeam's UEBA technology makes it possible to perform wide-ranging security analyses, regardless of whether the abnormal behavior is caused by external threats due to malware or malicious internal fraud.
